More than zero
Established in 2021, NOVA Zero Waste working group comprises 12 dedicated members, representing each of the university’s nine schools, along with the Rectory and Social Welfare Services (SAS). This interdisciplinary team collaborates tirelessly towards an ambitious goal: transforming our NOVA Campi into zero waste precincts. They operate on multiple fronts by actively engaging with stakeholders across their own schools to gather insights into specific waste management challenges and collaborating to leverage collective experiences and innovative best practices and towards innovative solutions. Additionally, they welcome external experts to enrich their approach, navigating complexities with newfound knowledge and methodologies. Together, they champion sustainability, paving the way for a waste-free NOVA.
NOVA Zero Waste is responsible for:
- Conducting yearly waste management campaigns to estimate waste production, by waste streams
- Assessing options to reduce material consumption, namely paper
- Engaging with stakeholders, namely waste operators and municipalities, aiming to improve continuously towards the zero waste goal
