The main objective of this CU is to provide students with the fundamental concepts of policies, management systems and basic technologies for waste prevention, reuse, recovery and disposal, and to enable them to solve problems related to integrated waste management. At the end of this CU the student must have acquired the knowledge and skills that enable him to:
– Recognize the problem and importance of good waste management;
– Be familiar with European and national waste management policies and strategies;
– Know how to solve problems on quantification and characterization of waste collection and transport, waste systems, management of special flows, treatment processes and waste disposal;
– Develop capabilities of critical reflection to approach waste management systems from an integrated, social and technologic perspective.
