The main objective of this CU is to provide students with the fundamental concepts of social sciences applied to environmental engineering and the methods and techniques of social research, necessary for an integrated understanding and analysis of environmental systems. At the end of this CU the student must acquire the knowledge and skills that enable him to: understand the importance of the social component for environmental engineering and to be critical in relation to socio-environmental issues; know the main theories / models of social psychology and sociology of the environment and processes of decision and public participation; acquire skills to identify social-environmental problems, plan social research, select and develop the methodology (quantitative and qualitative) best suited to achieve the objectives, collect and assess information (content analysis or statistical treatment) and interpret the results.
