The objectives of this course are to explain and discuss the institutionalisation of multilateral international order, focusing in particular on the second half of the 20th century. The course is divided into four main thematic areas: 1) the main theoretical perspectives of the international order and its institutionalisation; 2) the historical circumstances of the formulation of the order 3) the functioning of the main institutions; 4) the adaptation of institutions to the change in the post-Cold War international order. Students are expected to be able to analyze the role of instititutions in securing security and economic wellbeing.
