Environmental Economics

At the end of this curricular unit the student will have acquired knowledge, skills and competencies that allow him to: understand the functioning of the economic system, with particular emphasis on the organization and functioning of the markets, and its interaction with the environmental system; understand the theoretical foundations, principles and fundamental concepts of environmental economics; understand the economic causes of the main current environmental problems; integrate the economic approach in the formulation, analysis and resolution of environmental problems; implement methodologies and tools for economic analysis in addressing environmental aspects (e.g. cost-effectiveness analysis); understand the foundations for the design, application and evaluation of environmental policy instruments; understand the potentialities and limitations of environmental economics; develop teamwork; improve autonomy in research and analysis of information.
