Sustainability Day at NOVA FCSH – 21 March

16 March 2023

The International Day of Forests and World Arbor Day was chosen by NOVA FCSH to invite the entire academic and external community to participate in diverse activities with a focus on sustainability

and aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. The initiative falls under the ECO CAMPUS project, initiated in 2018 by the School which has been in continuous expansion and development since then.

The Sustainability Day will have a varied programme, promoting dialogue and awareness for the protection of the environment, round tables and presentation of research projects related to sustainability. There will also be practical and recreational activities and a cultural programme that raises awareness of the practice of art in a sustainable manner.

During the event the Green Flag will be hoisted, a recognition from the European Blue Flag Association (ABAE) of the work developed by the academic community as a school committed with sustainability.

NOVA FCSH has continuously sought to implement sustainable practices in all its domains.  Examples of this are the membership of the Eco-Schools Programme and the concomitant attribution of the Green Flag, the promotion of sustainable initiatives such as the installation of drinking fountains in the spaces of NOVA FCSH, the publication of the Energy Saving Plan of NOVA FCSH and also the incentive to the participation of Professors, Researchers and Employees in events such as this Sustainability Day or the NOVA Sustainability week.
