FCT-NOVA school calendar includes a period between semesters to equip students with soft skills, known as the “FCT Curriculum Profile”. Science & technology skills, entrepreneurship, internships in companies or in research units are examples of the FCT Curriculum Profile.
At 2nd year of all undergraduate programs, the Sustainability module, included in the Society, Sustainability and Digital Transformation course, takes students to reflect and explore on current environmental and sustainability challenges and future trends. Concepts such as limits to growth and planetary boundaries are addressed alongside with the discussion of possible pathways towards sustainability. Students from different backgrounds collectively build and share visions for a sustainable future, and teamwork is oriented to develop systemic thinking around the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
All FCT NOVA undergraduate students will understand the holistic, interconnected, and transdisciplinary nature of sustainability matters and develop a sense of social and environmental responsibility as professionals and citizens. In January 2023, 982 students were enrolled in this module.
This course contributes to target 4.7 of SDG 4 Quality Education.
