About to enter its 50th anniversary, NOVA looks to the future with a view on its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals and the objectives of the European Green Deal. Sustainability is key in the University’s strategic plan for 2020-2030, and an agenda has been developing under the NOVA 4theGlobe platform, together with representatives from all NOVA schools, on teaching, research, value creation and infrastructure and services. A Sustainability Policy was adopted to pave the way for implementation.
This year NOVA’s Day focus on sustainability. At NOVA, we seek solutions and options to contribute to make individual and collective challenges environmentally friendly and socially fair, and economically viable.
Pedro Matos, Emergency Coordinator of the World Food Program, will be the guest speaker, and will share his experience and contribution to building a better world, by fighting hunger, one of today’s great scourges. NOVA’s Day will also count on the intervention of the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato. The student athletes who represent NOVA in various sports will be honored and, as usual, the bestowal of the doctoral insignia to the students who completed their studies in the past year will take place.
NOVA’s Day will be held at the auditorium of the Rectorate of NOVA University Lisbon on November 3rd, at 4 pm.
