It aims to research, develop and validate at pilot-scale a smart cities digital platform for urban modelling and planning that will ultimately empower local authorities to identify and effectively address specific environmental issues in order to promote the reduction of the carbon footprint. C-Tech – Climate Driven Technologies for Low Carbon Cities, this is the name of the project, uses data from different sources – such as climate, energy and water consumption, mobility and, most of all, the behaviour of people, determined by their mobile phone use – which it combines with a three-dimensional representation of the city.
The result is a platform that will allow simulating different scenarios of energy efficiency of buildings, creation of green structures and energy efficiency of urban mobility. A very useful tool to support decision-making in order to tackle environmental challenges in the urban context.
NOVA IMS is one of the participants in this project that brings together scientific and business partners.
