Created to respond to situations caused by the covid pandemic, the Lisbon City Council’s helpline relies on the collaboration of the National Observatory of Gender Violence hosted at NOVA FCSH, which integrate researchers from all NOVA schools.
The Observatory, founded in 2008, is the first national observatory covering the fields of violence and gender, has an independent structure, aligned with the European Council recommendations. Its greatest strength came from the research carried out in the last two decades, with practical results on the social dimensions of violence and on public policies advisory.
The analysis of the impact of Covid-19 on violence against women is an ongoing project with financial support from the Foundation for Science and Technology. The project also intends to understand the impact on the entire household in the periods before, during and after the state of emergency.
